35th Day of 365 Thanks Giving

For yesterday, I’m giving thanks for my hamsters! They are just as much loves of my life, as are my daughters. Growing up, my family always had pets. We had multiple dogs. We had eight cats at one point in time. It just feels normal for me to have background noise from animals.

Last night, as I winded down for bed, I listened to my boys running on their exercise wheel. Boa was jumping from the wheel, around the cage, up the stairs, and onto the swing. I absolutely love watching them.

This morning, I had them in their clear balls. Boa was doing great! Dexter somehow got the lid open. As soon as he heard his cage door rattle, he came running towards it. I was so relieved!!!

I’m grateful for these adorable little creatures.

  1. Hamsters make me happy too 🐹 I finally got one prior to going to uni and named her Hana-Bear (Hana means flower in Japanese). When I met my now-husband, he had a hamster named Dobby, after Dobby the elf from Harry Potter. He says his hamster kept him company while he was in uni. They’re fascinating creatures to watch 🐹

      • Sadly I don’t have a hamster right now, but we did have gerbils (2) after we moved in together. Sadly, we lost the gerbils during Christmas season one year. Personally, I prefer hamsters over gerbils. Hamsters are the cutest little balls of fluff 🐹

Right now, we have one cat and he’s the love of my life. This cat has helped me battle some really bad depression. I love him so much, but I’m not sure how well he would fare with hamsters. I had a cat and a hamster at one point and they don’t make the best of friends, despite what cute photos online and calendars suggest 😂
